Sports betting fantasy? What if the Super Bowl could be re-played today?
This is a Fantasy Sports Betting . What if Super Bowl XL was replayed today, before the 2006 season starts, but after the offseason moves? What if the Steelers were to replicate their dominant defensive performance from last February’s 21-10 win? Or, would the Seattle Seahawks prove the world they lost one bad game on Sunday?
Let’s look at the personnel changes that each team made in the off-season. Three Steelers starters (Chris Hope and Kimo von Oelhoffen) were lost to free agency. Jerome Bettis, also known as “The Bus”, made his final Super Bowl stop in Detroit. Bettis didn’t make much impact on the field but Randle El did throw a touchdown pass of 43 yards on a trick play to Hines Ward, who scored the winning blow in the fourth quarter. Hope and von Oelhoffen played a key role in a defense that allowed almost 400 yards, but only held the Seahawks down to 5-17 on third down. These departed players will be replaced this season by Santonio Holmes, a first-round draft pick (WR for Randle El), Ryan Clark, a Washington free agent (FS for Hope), and Travis Kirschke (DE to replace von Oelhoffen). Overall, the Steelers’ players lost were better than their replacements. Bettis’ emotional impact as team leader cannot also be measured.
Three key players from the Super Bowl team were lost by the Seahawks: Steve Hutchinson, Andre Dyson (CB), and Marquand Manuel. The players who were brought in to replace them do not represent a significant drop in quality at any position. Seattle used Kelly Jennings, the Univ. of Miami CB draft pick in its first round. Jennings will likely share time with Kelly Herndon, a veteran. Erict Pruitt, a veteran, will be filling in for Manuel and Floyd Womack. He should live up to the expectations he set several years back in replacing Hutchinson. The Niners’ acquisition of Julian Peterson, a free agent linebacker, could be the most important off-season move. Peterson was once a formidable force that needed to be present on every play. However, injuries and mental problems have slowed him down. Peterson’s old form can be restored and Seattle can easily win Super Bowl XLI.
How would it turn out if they started it today? The off-season moves made by the Seahawks to improve an already excellent team impressed me. A team can lose some key players in this era where free agency is available. On paper, the Steelers seem to Agen SBOBET have lost more than the Seahawks. Bettis’ loss is something you cannot underestimate. I felt the Steelers were a bit lucky to be able to catch the Seahawks in Super Bowl XL. I don’t believe it would happen again. My prediction is 31-14 with Seattle moving up and down the field without much difficulty.
